Textiles Profile
I have found that my wide range of summer jobs have had a strong influence on my artwork. Although my CV only lists a few, I have had a lot of jobs – waitress, cashier, key cutter, church organist, costume designer, as well as work for both municipal and federal levels of government. I think my full resume makes me look a little indecisive! My costuming job was at a pioneer village, where people dressed in 19th century clothing every single day. I began to think about the influence that textiles have had on human life, and what an important part they play in our understanding of history. These are a couple of projects that stem from this idea.
